List of Chairpersons is below this list of our programs

SUPPORTING VETERANS, MILITARY AND FAMILIES

  • VETERANS ASSISTANCE AND REHABILITATION (VA&R)

Asisting veterans in need, including local individual support as well as VA hospital, nursing home and homeless veterans projects.

  • LEGISLATIVE

Speaking to government officials and lobbying national and state congress as well as local officials concerning veterans needs.

  • POPPY

Raising funds to support our VA&R programs 

Educating the public about honoring our veterans with the use of the veterans memorial poppy, including poster contests, school visitations and other projects.

  • NATIONAL SECURITY

Support for our Troops

Support for our first responders including Fire, Police and EMS personnel

Education and Support of health and security programs such as Red Cross, Civil Service, Internet Safety, CPR and other topics.

Efforts to recover our Prisoners of War and Missing in Action (POW/MIA)

COMMMUNITY AND FAMILY

  • AMERICANISM

Education and support of topics including our nation's Constitution, form of government and the American Flag.

  • EDUCATION

Scholarships and other support for both the youth of our community and also for adult education. Supply schools with needed/requested supplies. Put on education events.

  • COMMUNITY SERVICE

The wide area of support for those in our local communities. This includes supporting community organizations and events.

  • GIRLS STATE

The most prestigious and long running civics education week long event in our nation. Students create local, and state governments, run for offices, hold trials, conduct press releases. Then they visit our Michigan State Capital and meet actual legislators.  They also participate in entertainment events.

  • CHILDREN AND YOUTH

Support Organizations that protect and support the children of our nation. Award "Youth Hero" and "Good Deed" recognitions to local youth. Work to supply help to children in need, especially veteran's children. Teaching children good citizenship, constitution, support the TAPS program (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) for families of deceased U.S. military members.

  • JUNIORS

Members of American Legion Auxiliary from birth through 17 years of age. Working alongside our senior members on special projects that grow the confidence and ability of our young members while working on issues for our veterans and within our communities. 

AUXILIARY SUPPORT

  • AUXILIARY EMERGENCY FUND (AEF)

Grants to American Legion Auxiliary members who experience severe hardships because of natural disasters or other financial impacts.

  • CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS

Updating/maintaining our legal documents and guidelines. Educating our members of these important rules and guides. 

  • HISTORIAN

Assembling and preserviing the records of our wonderful projects and members each year. 

  • LEADERSHIP

Mentoring and educating our members on any and all facets of our organization. 

  • MEMBERSHIP

Retaining and growing our great group of members. Thus enabling us to continue our good work.

  • PUBLIC RELATIONS 

Keeping the public informed of Who we are, what we are doing, and why we matter.
